Configuring Outlook.com for Thunderbird

Posted on .

In this article, I will show you how to configure an Outlook.com e-mail account for Mozilla Thunderbird. Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open source, cross-platform email, news, and chat client developed by the Mozilla Foundation. Read more here.

Recently, I re-installed Ubuntu Linux and was setting up my E-mail accounts in Thunderbird because I prefer to use E-mail clients to manage my e-mails. During setup, I was able to successfully add and send e-mail messages from all my e-mail accounts including my n3rve.com e-mail account, however my outlook.com account was a different and slightly frustrating case.

Although, I could receive e-mails, I was unable to send e-mails from my outlook.com account. After toggling settings and googling for a bit, I successfully configured it. So I’m sharing the configuration settings for anyone that might need it, mainly because it wasn’t a cake walk for me.

SMTP

I hope these work for you!
